Earlier this year, 5th and 6th graders were to design a poster for the annual Keep Montana Green Art Contest. Each year they must design a poster to fit the year's theme complete with a slogan. This last week, Emma received an honorable mention, and her design was sent to the capital to be judged against other student work across the state.
Congratulations to Ms. Emma Spainhower!

First of all, thank you to all the families that supported the spring photo fundraiser this year. Students were able to set up a studio space, as well as pose and photograph students for this fundraiser as a way to apply the skills they've been learning over the past year. The pictures turned out great!
I should be rolling out the web link to your "gallery" through Pixiset this year. A link will be emailed to you through the address you provided on your forms. If you have any issues being able to download your images, please don't hesitate to email me at bshermer@pcsd5.org. It is still a learning process, but delivering images to you all has been an easier process due to this website.

It has come to our attention that the local police report found in a local newspaper states that a juvenile has threatened to shoot up the school and the incident is under investigation. There are a couple things that I would like to point out. First of all, the police report sections report whatever the statement was that was called in to dispatch. Second of all, our school takes all threats seriously. In this situation we had a young elementary student lose his temper and made threatening statements to his teacher and class. Students were removed from class while administration was called down to deal with the student. This student was dealt with through our disciplinary process, we visited with our School Resource Officer, and we developed a plan for this student’s continuing education, keeping in mind the safety of all students. This is a situation where the school could have done a better job of communicating its processes to the public and we will develop a plan to do so when or if issues reach a certain level. Procedures for safety, action and communication are already in place if there are threats to the school.
Please don't forget that Yearbook will be doing our annual Spring Photo fundraiser this Wednesday. This fundraiser not only supports the High School Yearbook, but this year this event is more hands on, allowing students to experience setting up and creating a professional photo mini session on their own.
These sessions would typically be taken outside, however if the weather doesn't permit, students will set up a studio inside. This session is for both Elementary and High school students.
Forms went home last week, but if you did not receive it, and still would like to support, please contact me at bshermer@pcsd5.org.
Thank you!
